LPO Dynamics:

Recent observations have predicted legal process outsourcing [LPO] to generate 79,000 jobs in India by 2015. Such a lofty number sure does take care of a significant part of India’s knowledge pool with close to three lakh law students graduating each year.

A major plus point that India faces is its legal system which was reaped from the British and American models. It makes it easier for Indian lawyers to provide more in-depth services for LPO.
Paralegal and secretarial support form a major chunk of the LPO services offered. However there is a gradual shift noticed towards outsourcing including patent writing, general research and review, litigation support, contract review, etc.

Currently Indian firms are also dabbling in transcription services like dictation, court proceedings, trials, legal letters, wire tap and general correspondence. Factors like the predominantly English speaking population, low labor and wage costs, convenient time differences, sophisticated technologies and the legal system are added advantages that are enjoyed by Indian lawyers.
